Our Team

John’s passion is sourcing the highest quality coffee from some of the most talented producers in the world. He finds the exceptional offerings that have made Beacon synonymous with delicious coffee, he travels across the world to cup thousands of coffees with our producers, hand picking beautiful offerings specifically for our retail customers and wholesale partners. He works hard behind the scenes to execute Beacon’s mission and showcase each coffee in the best possible light.

Virginia has been with Beacon since 2016 starting as a barista, quickly moving up into General Manager of our Ventura shop, helping build and grow our production department and is now our Production Roaster. She ensures our coffee is consistently roasted to a high quality. With over 10 years of customer service experience, Virginia is always prioritizing making people happy and ensuring everyone has an amazing coffee experience.

Sierra has been with us since 2019, starting out as a barista and growing with the company. She has helped us to systematize our production department, working alongside Virginia to create efficiencies for inventory, quality, and fulfillment. You can also find Sierra at the helm of the roaster or working on graphic design. She is multitalented and straddles many aspects of our business effortlessly.

Leah is a seasoned service professional, with close to 20 years experience in Food and Beverage Management. She is a natural when it comes to understanding and anticipating exactly what our wholesale partners need. Leah has been with Beacon since the Summer of 2021 and is dedicated to providing responsive, personalized service. Leah is a natural educator and helps to run many of our coffee brewing and barista classes.

Most of you are greeted by Tessa when you stop by for a drink. She welcomes you with her super friendly energy, and she'll always make your drink with care. Tessa has been with us since late 2021, and has worked hard to become one of our most talented baristas. She has a broad depth of knowledge of both espresso and brew methods. If you need tips for improving your coffee at home she is always happy to answer questions and offer advice!

Kelsey has 15 years of experience in the Specialty Coffee industry, across both Australia and the United States. She holds a postgraduate Certificate of Advanced Studies in Coffee Excellence from ZHAW. A previous barista champion, she is passionate about training, education and mentoring in coffee. She designs our internal and wholesale barista training programs, as well as educational classes for the public.

Spencer is one of the spectacular baristas in our cafe team. His favorite part about working at Beacon is knowing that every day he gets to come in and talk to some really charming and lovely people. He takes the time to get to know all of our customers. We are so grateful for his presence in our coffee shop. He helps make it a warm and welcoming place to be.

Elyce joined Beacon in 2024 and slotted into our barista team like the missing piece of a puzzle. She has an engaging personality and her milk texture is so glossy and creamy. You can find Elyce behind the counter, chatting away to customers and making delicious drinks. She brings a wonderful, positive energy to our cafe and we are thrilled to have her as a part of our team.

Riss is cool, calm, and collected. They are focused and detail oriented, ensuring every coffee you receive meets our exacting standards. Riss really cares about delivering a quality experience: both in terms of the coffee they serve and service they deliver. They are a long time coffee lover and are always working to improve their skillset!

Amelie developed her passion for coffee at a young age. While traveling with her parents she would always beg for a sip of their espresso. Now she has a job that involves a lot of espresso sipping! She has a very bubbly personality and fills the cafe space with high energy and a quirkiness that is very enjoyable to be around.
