The foothills of Mount Kenya are the scene of most of Kenya's prolific coffee milling stations. The Aberdare range is ripe with mineral rich soil ideal for coffee cultivation and we often feature coffees from this specific region of Nyeri because of how the terroir and meticulous milling shine through in the finished cup. At roughly 1800 meters, the mill sits at the higher end of the coffee production altitude in Kenya - as you climb higher toward Mt. Kenya in the Aberdare range the coffee trees give way to tea plantations.
The Kangocho mill is a cooperative that supports roughly 750 member farms in the immediate surrounding area. The cooperative also supports welfare initiatives like school fee loans and medical assistance, as well as, agronomic advice to support good farming techniques.
Tasting Notes: Full body, juicy bright acidity, black currant and milk chocolate
